In 2018 Huntsville added more land to its green space in downtown Huntsville. With the addition of 17.5 acres that brings to total acreage to 47 acres in the downtown area. Huntsville has been leading Alabama with development of the center areas with restaurants, planned living, retail and now with greenspace. Huntsville takes pride in its city and the downtown area is no exception. Bringing the urban feel to an already hip area is just icing on the cake.
Planning and development is the task of long range planning of Dave Masden who says the city is working to improve the link to and among the parks through greenways, sidewalks and bikeways.
“We’re able to make great strides in securing green space because of our smart planning and community input,” said Mayor Battle. “As more people visit our urban parks, they realize the joys of living in this environment, where shops and restaurants are just outside your front door and walking and biking is more convenient than getting into a car.”
Huntsville's younger and older generations are enjoying the renewal of the downtown area with commercial, residential, retail and restaurants with a variety of each to entice industry and businesses to come to Huntsville and stay long-term.
More green space just sweetens the deal!
